Special cases of winning the point in padel

The point is deemed won in these specific situations:

• a) If the ball, after bouncing in the opposing half, leaves the court through a gap or defect in the metal mesh, or becomes caught in it.

• b) If the ball, after bouncing in the opposing half, comes to rest on the flat horizontal surface of a wall.

Worked examples

The ball gets caught in the mesh and never comes back. If it bounced in the opposing half first, the point goes to whoever hit it: the opponents have no way of returning it, and the rule settles it in their favour.

The ball comes to rest on the ledge of a wall. Same case: if it bounced in the opposing half first, the point is won, even though nobody ever touched it.

Watch the order. What decides it is the earlier bounce in the opposing half. If the ball reaches the opponents’ mesh or wall without bouncing first, the point is not won but lost — that is Rule 13, point g).
